Book Signings
I hosted book signings at Barnes & Noble Gainsville and DayDrift Books and Cafe. I was amazed at the turnout and sales were solid. It’s always an honor to hear buyer stories about their tough job situations. One of the most rewarding aspects of publishing 10 Little Rules When Good Jobs Go Bad has been reader validation and community connection. I sincerely acknowledge their feelings of loss, confusion, and disappointment. It’s only after that emotional phase that they can learn, grow, and reclaim their work and their life.
Workshops
I logged another fun Journal and Discover Workshop at Cascades Library in Sterling, VA. What a special evening with a special guest appearance by Natalya Pestalozzi, the nationally recognized professional coach who contributed to my book, 10 Little Rules When Good Jobs Go Bad. I loved the audience engagement and insightful questions. Here’s a summary of their feedback:

I’m an author and writing-workshop leader who specializes in reflective and creative writing as a tool for clarity. I believe that writing doesn’t have to be intimidating to be powerful.Through workshops like Journal and Discover and The Art of Simplicity, I help people who don’t consider themselves writers, use short, focused journaling practices to uncover insights and reconnect with their own voices. Linda Tate of Tate Communications teaches “Excavating Family Stories.” I attended the online version recently and I was surprised at how many great short stories grew from her guided prompt sessions. Truly powerful! This workshop is for both fiction and non-fiction writers.
Kathy Fish on SubStack teaches flash fiction workshops, often for free. She also offers tips and advice on her helpful SubStack column. I’ve attended her workshops and I highly recommend them. Fun, engaging, and very educational. I learned a lot about flash fiction (aka short short story writing) from Kathy.
News from Kate Goggin
10 Little Rules When Good Jobs Go Bad has been selected as a silent auction item for the upcoming Loudoun Laurels Celebration of Life and Leadership Gala on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Loudoun Laurels is a philanthropic non-profit that provides mentoring and academic scholarships to Loudoun County Public School students in historically underserved populations. They also bestow an annual award to honor lifetime stewardship and leadership contributions made by Loudoun County citizens to the community.
My book will be featured along with other local author publications. I am incredibly honored to receive this invitation and I plan to attend the black tie event.
