Inspiring stories article
Wow, wow, wow. Thank you, Voyage Baltimore Magazine (@voyagebaltimore), for the amazing profile article in the Inspiring Stories section! In it, I shared my personal and professional journey.
First, I talked about my roots. I grew up near the DC Metro and now live in Northern Virginia. From a young age, I was a curious kid who loved learning.
Later, that curiosity shaped my career. I became a technical writer, editor, and now, a published author.
For over 20 years, I’ve helped experts explain complex ideas. My job is to make hard topics easy to understand.
Along the way, I worked with scientists, engineers, and project leaders. I helped them turn technical jargon into clear messages. In fact, clear writing is my biggest strength and favorite skill.
However, my path wasn’t always easy. Like many people, I’ve had tough times at work. I’ve dealt with bad bosses, illness, and burnout.
During those times, something unexpected happened. Friends and coworkers began asking for advice. I started helping them through career changes and hard job moments. That informal coaching soon became something bigger.
One day, I laughed reading my old job list. It was long—and full of wild stories! A friend in my writing group saw a book idea in it.
She encouraged me to write it, and I said yes!
As a result, I wrote 10 Little Rules When Good Jobs Go Bad. The book shares real stories, tips, and journal prompts. It helps readers take back control at work and in life.
In the Voyage Baltimore article, I explain how the book came to life. I also share why I love helping others in tough job situations.
In addition, I give advice for new writers and creatives. I talk about how journaling and songwriting helped me grow.

So, if you’ve had a job that went wrong, this is for you. Or, if you’re starting something new, you might find hope in my story.
